On April 10, 2019, the CITD participated in the North County Business Educators and Industry Roundtable hosted by Palomar College and North County Higher Education Alliance (NCHEA) an organization that includes, CSU San Marcos, MiraCosta College and Palomar College. The Roundtable served as an Advisory between educational institutions and industry. The goal was to receive valuable input to ensure that the future workforce is properly developed to meet industry demands in regards to knowledge, skills and abilities and that students continue to receive a high-quality, industry-recognized education throughout the region.
Discussion and action was around the following career pathways: Accounting/Bookkeeping, Business – General, Entrepreneurship, Logistics/Supply Chain, Legal Studies, Project Management and Real Estate. Educators from CSU San Marcos, MiraCosta College, Palomar College, and North County adult schools and industry representatives from the those specific fields participated in this round table event. Brief presentations included the Business Administration Transfer Degree and new Law, Public Policy and Society Transfer Degree, Supply Chain and Logistics and Project Management programs, Real Estate, Entrepreneurship, Internships, Articulations, and Adult Education.
The small group discussions included current industry best practices, articulations between adult schools, colleges, and universities in North County, review of current programs and course offerings, specific career skills and knowledge, hiring climate for San Diego County, jobs that ensure employment and curriculum that meets future job demands.
