ESCONDIDO–The search for a missing Temecula man ended Tuesday with the discovery of a body in an Escondido lake, authorities said.

San Diego Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue recovered the body of Steve Mesa Turrey in the northwest area of the lake at the All Seasons RV Park campground.

A representative from the Medical Examiner’s office was on scene and made a preliminary identification of the body, as well as notification of Turrey’s family.

Turrey was last seen walking away from the campground on January 26. Turrey had medical and mental health issues requiring prescription medication making him at-risk.

The Medical Examiner’s office will determine the cause and manner of death.
