Carlsbad police to enhance DUI Enforcement over Super Bowl weekend

February 7, 2021 by San Diego

CARLSBAD–Super Bowl LV is Sunday, and Carlsbad police will enhance enforcement over the weekend to watch for drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The Carlsbad Police Department has partnered with the California Office of Traffic Safety to promote a safe and DUI-free Super Bowl weekend.

California’s public health guidance advises that those who choose to watch the Super Bowl do so at home, with members of your immediate family to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Police advise residents who plan to drink alcohol while watching the game, stay at home and use food delivery services if necessary.

Those who choose to be out-and-about, should choose to designate a driver or use ride share services.

The California Office of Traffic Safety reminds the public that alcohol is not the only thing that impairs driving. Prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications and marijuana may affect your ability to drive safely.

Funding for Super Bowl enforcement is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
