Oceanside, CA–Fire crews are battling a vegetation fire that broke out late Wednesday evening in the San Luis Rey riverbed north of State Route 76, authorities said.

The Oceanside Fire Department was dispatched around 10:34 p.m. to the blaze located between SR-76 between Lorretta and Interstate 5 highway.

Limited evacuations of several nearby homes have been conducted in the 600 block of San Luis Rey Drive, fire officials said in a news release.

Residents are urged to stay clear of the area until further notice.
