Lakeside, CA–A Lakeside man was arrested on suspicion of fatally shooting his brother at their Lakeside residence, San Diego Sheriff’s Department said.
Authorities identified 27-year-old Bryan Luther Edwards as the suspect who shot his brother, 32-year-old Derek Maurice Edwards.
The brothers lived at the same property on Moreno Avenue. Bryan was stabbed in the altercation with Derek and was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.
Detectives arrested Bryan at the hospital for one count of murder. He will remain at the hospital under guard until he is medically cleared to be booked into jail.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report at about 4:30 p.m. of a shooting in the 11100 block of Moreno Avenue.
When deputies arrived, they found an adult male who had been shot. Deputies and two people at the scene provided lifesaving measures to the victim. The man was transported to a local area hospital by ambulance. He was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the hospital.
