Man fatally struck by train in Del Mar

Del Mar, CA–A pedestrian on railroad tracks was fatally struck by a southbound train on the bluffs in Del Mar, the Sheriff’s Department said Monday.

The Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit was dispatched around 3:11 p.m. of a collision between a Coaster train and a male pedestrian on the tracks at the west end of 12th street. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Identification of the victim has not yet been made and is still unknown. The Medical Examiner Office was called to the scene and took custody of the victim. 

The San Diego Sheriff’s Department Transit Enforcement Unit is investigating the incident.
