Man found dead on Encinitas beach identified

Encinitas, CA–The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the identity of a man whose body washed ashore Tuesday morning on Stonesteps Beach in Encinitas.

He was identified as 32-year-old Christopher Andrew Gibson.The cause and manner of death is under investigation, according to the medical examiner’s office.

On Tuesday, a passerby discovered the body around 7 a.m. on the beach near South El Portal Street and Neptune Avenue and called 9-1-1. San Diego Sheriff and Encinitas Lifeguards responded to the scene and San Diego Sheriff deputies confirmed death at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident.
