By Gina Yarbrough

CARLSBAD–Carlsbad police are investigating a case of a possible murder-suicide after finding a 33-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman dead inside their home Saturday.

Their identities are being withheld pending notification of the next of kin by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s office.

Just after 6 p.m. p.m. Carlsbad police responded to the 500 block of Village Drive to conduct a welfare check at a residence. Officers had been informed that an individual inside the home had sent a message to a family member indicating that he had killed his ex-girlfriend and was going to kill himself.

Upon arriving, officers forced entry into the home and located two bodies inside.

The investigation is ongoing.
