Oceanside police find a man’s body in a canoe

Oceanside, CA–Oceanside police Friday evening are investigating the suspicious death of a man whose body was found in a canoe in a riverbed area near the beach and Interstate 5.

Police officers received a 6 p.m. report of a white male in his 50’s dead inside the canoe in the 1000 block of North Pacific Street in Oceanside.

The cause of death is undetermined pending the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s autopsy, Oceanside police said in a news release.

The man’s identity is not being released pending notification of the next of kin.
