Pedestrian struck and killed by train in Encinitas

Encinitas, CA–A pedestrian was struck and killed by a Coaster train Friday morning in Encinitas, authorities said.

The incident was reported to Sheriff’s Department dispatchers just after 8:30 a.m. near the La Costa Avenue overpass. 

When deputies arrived at the scene, the pedestrian involved in the collision was deceased, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. 

Deputies are investigating the incident. The manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The identity of the victim will be released pending notification of the family.
