Oceanside, CA–Two people were injured Thursday afternoon when their single-engine aircraft crash-landed in a dirt field east of the Oceanside Municipal Airport, authorities said.

Oceanside police and fire crews responded to a report around 12:46 p.m. of a plane crash in the field one-half mile east of the airport located at Foussat Road and State Route 76 Highway.

Fire crews located and extricated two male adults who were on board the single-engine Cessna 208B when it went down.

One person was in critical condition and transported by air ambulance to a trauma center. The other was in moderate condition and taken by ground ambulance to a local hospital.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will conduct an investigation into the crash.
