Vehicle struck by Coaster train in Encinitas

Encinitas, CA–A northbound Coaster train struck a vehicle Wednesday afternoon near an intersection in Encinitas, the Sheriff’s office said.

Deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station’s Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a 4:44 p.m. report of an Audi sedan that was struck by the train near the 1600 block of North Vulcan Avenue. 

The driver of the vehicle did not appear to sustain any injuries and refused to be evaluated by paramedics. No injuries were reported by the train’s crew or passengers.  

The Audi sustained moderate damage to its front end. The train sustained minor damage.
