Oceanside, CA–A family of six was displaced Thursday afternoon after a fire broke out at their residential duplex in Oceanside, fire officials said.
The Oceanside Fire Department was dispatched to a reported residential fire around 3:05 p.m. in the 300 block of Magdalena Drive.
When firefighters arrived at the location they saw heavy smoke and flames engulfing the rear side of the duplex. Crews learned all the occupants in the duplex were able to evacuate safely.
Crews were able to cut holes in the roof to let the superheated gasses and smoke out of the structure in order to help crews combat the blaze. They brought the fire under control within 25 minutes, Oceanside Fire Department said in a news release.
The fire, which originated in the rear of the residence, caused significant damage to the duplex,
but fire crews were able to contain the blaze before it could cause a greater loss of property.
There were no injuries reported, and the family affected by the incident has been provided with appropriate support and resources through the Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by Oceanside fire investigators.
