El Cajon police recover 4 stolen vehicles, 4 people arrested

El Cajon, CA–Four people were arrested and four stolen vehicles were recovered in El Cajon in September, El Cajon Police Department said.
On September 22, around 2:30 a.m. officers began receiving an automated license plate reading (ALPR) alert. Officers found an unoccupied 2018 Kia Sedona that was stolen out of San Diego two days earlier.
On September 24, around 11:30 p.m. officers began receiving another ALPR alert in the area of 1200 West Main Street. Officers found a stolen 2020 Honda Civic and arrested the driver, 24-year-old El Cajon resident Jason Cruz. The suspect also had an existing auto theft warrant, El Cajon police said in a news release.
On September 26, around 2:40 a.m. officers began receiving alerts and found a stolen 2010 BMW in the area of 1000 East Lexington Avenue. The driver, 26-year-old San Diego resident Khalil Williams, was arrested for auto theft. A passenger in the car, 41-year-old Victor Fernandez also of San Diego, was arrested for a child abuse warrant.
Later on September 26, around 10:55 a.m. officers began receiving other alerts in the area of Broadway and Mollison Avenue. A stolen 2005 Chrysler Pacifica was found and the driver, 37-year-old National City resident Arthur Jones was arrested.
According to El Cajon police, the ALPR cameras send a real-time crime alert to law enforcement when a stolen vehicle, or known wanted vehicle, from a state or national database, is detected.
