Motorcyclist killed in single-vehicle crash

Escondido, CA–A 27-year-old man was killed early Friday morning when he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a chain-link fence in Escondido, authorities said.
The man was riding with another motorcyclist north approaching the intersection of Date Street and 5th Avenue at 2:47 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, he lost control and crashed into the fence. Witnesses at the scene began CPR on the man, and police officers continued life-saving measures. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, the Escondido Police Department stated in a news release.
His identity is not being released pending notification to his family.
The cause of the collision is under investigation.
