San Marcos, CA–The Palomar Community College District Governing Board voted 3 to 1 during a special meeting on March 21 to appoint Escondido resident Cassandra Schaeg as a Provisional Trustee, following the resignation of Christian Garcia.
Schaeg was sworn into office immediately following the vote, by Governing Board Vice President, Roberto Rodriguez.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ms. Schaeg to the Governing Board, and I look forward to working with her in the College’s continued pursuit of student success,” said President and Superintendent Dr. Star Rivera-Lacey. “Ms. Schaeg brings an impressive resume of entrepreneurship, leadership, and community engagement experience to Palomar. As a community college graduate, she understands the many paths students take to achieve their goals.”
Schaeg has over 25 years of experience in nonprofit, private, and public sectors focused on education, advocacy, and workforce development in underserved communities.
“I am honored to be appointed to the Palomar Governing Board to continue the mission of encouraging students to embrace the best version of themselves and prepare them to engage with our local and global communities. As a community college graduate, entrepreneur, and advocate, I intend to continue representing Area 2 constituents and the North County community,” said Schaeg.
With her appointment, Schaeg assumed the Area 2 seat of former Board President Christian Garcia, who resigned due to an appointment to serve on the City of Escondido City Council.
Area 2 of the PCCD includes but is not limited to the communities within the cities of Escondido and San Marcos.
