Passenger is electrocuted after vehicle crashes into electrical box

San Diego, CA– A female passenger was fatally electrocuted, and the driver injured following a vehicle collision into an electrical box early Saturday morning in Southeast San Diego, authorities said.
The incident occurred in the 1300 block of Euclid Avenue around 2:30 a.m. in the Ridgeview and Webster neighborhood, the San Diego Police Department said in a news release.
The woman was driving her 2014 Kia Forte vehicle when it veered to the right, drove across the sidewalk, and crashed into the electrical box. Both women had exited the vehicle, and the passenger attempted to push the vehicle from the box and was electrocuted.
Paramedics transported the 31-year-old driver to an area hospital for treatment of her injuries. The 22-year-old passenger died at the scene.
The San Diego Police Department Traffic Division is investigating the incident.
