Pedestrian fatally struck in vehicle collision

Vista, CA–A male pedestrian crossing an intersection on Friday evening was fatally struck by a vehicle in North County, authorities said.

The incident took place just after 8 p.m., near the intersection of Taylor Street and Cresthaven Drive in Vista. 

Sheriff’s deputies along with Vista Fire Department personnel responded to the traffic collision involving a Ford Escape, and a pedestrian near the intersection of Taylor Street and Cresthaven Drive in Vista. 

The vehicle was traveling westbound on Taylor Street when it struck the pedestrian who was crossing just east of the intersection. He was transported to the hospital where he died from his injuries, said Sergeant Andrew Brumfield, of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department in a news release. 

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.

The Vista Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Division is investigating the case.
