Southwestern College governing board seeks new member

Chula Vista, CA–The Southwestern College governing board voted on July 10 to create an appointment process to fill the at-large vacancy left by former Trustee Griselda Delgado who resigned on July 6.
The provisional appointment process allows any registered voter in the college’s attendance area to apply. The application period is open from July 13 through July 31. Successful candidates will serve in an At-Large Seat until the next regularly scheduled election in November 2024.
“We are seeking an individual to join us in building a welcoming, equity-focused, inclusive college community that honors our history and empowers our students, employees, and district partners,” said Governing Board President Roberto Alcantar.
Interested individuals can find the application and related information on the Governing Board Appointment webpage at www.swccd.edu/GBAppointment. Interested individuals must fill out the application and include a letter of interest addressed to Governing Board President Alcantar. Materials are to be emailed to president@swccd.edu and received by 4 p.m., July 31.
The governing board will fill the vacancies no later than September 4.
Interested applicants are encouraged to attend an information session on July 18, at 5:30 p.m. Pre-registration is required.
