Two people arrested on suspicion of stabbing at park

Vista, CA–Two people were arrested early Tuesday on suspicion of stabbing a man multiple times at a park in Vista, said the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call, just after 1:30 a.m., of a verbal altercation that turned physical at Veterans Memorial Park located near South Santa Fe Avenue and Eucalyptus Avenue.  

Deputies found one man with stab wounds and immediately began life-saving measures. The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment. He is expected to survive, said Sergeant Saleem Payman, of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department in a news release.

Two suspects, 50-year-old Casey Vazquez, and 23-year-old Elijah Vazquez were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. 

The investigation is ongoing.
