Pedestrian struck and killed in vehicle collision

El Cajon, CA–A female pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle Monday at an intersection in El Cajon, authorities said.
El Cajon police and paramedics responded to calls of a pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle around 6:21 a.m. at an intersection of East Main Street and Roanoke Road.
An officer arrived on the scene and started CPR on the unresponsive pedestrian until paramedics arrived. She was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The identity of the 28-year-old victim is known, however, her name is being withheld pending notification of family.
The driver of the 2016 black Kia Soul that struck the woman remained on scene and has been fully cooperative with the investigation, El Cajon police said.
Investigators say alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the collision.
The El Cajon Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the collision to call (619) 579-3311.
The department reminds pedestrians to obey all traffic control devices, only cross the street at designated, controlled intersections, and wear bright or light-colored clothing for visibility.
