Suspect arrested in San Marcos stabbing death of woman

San Marcos, CA–Sheriff’s homicide detectives announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a fatal stabbing of a woman in San Marcos.
The suspect, 29-year-old Ziyah Jay Patterson was charged with the murder of 42-year-old Angela Marie Lanway. He was
Pattersonbooked into the Vista Detention Facility as the investigation into the circumstances of the crime continues.
Deputies responded to a report last week of an incident in the 100 block of North Twin Oaks Valley Road in San Marcos. When deputies arrived at the scene, they discovered Lanway with a stab wound. Immediate medical aid was administered, and Lanway was transported to an area hospital. Despite life-saving efforts to save her, Lanway succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The victim and Patterson were identified as being in a relationship, marking the incident as an isolated event. Authorities have confirmed that there are no outstanding suspects, and the community is not at risk.
