Woman arrested on suspicion of setting home on fire

Ramona, CA–A 57-year-old woman was arrested Monday on suspicion of setting a home on fire in East County, investigators said.

The incident occurred around 6 a.m. in the 200 block of Haley Street in Ramona. 

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department received a call from a resident stating their house was on fire.   

Deputies and Cal Fire San Diego fire crews responded to the scene and found the home fully engulfed in flames. Two occupants in the home were outside with no reported injuries.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson Unit were called to the scene to investigate the origin and cause of the blaze. Based on their investigation, detectives determined the fire was intentional. One of the residents, Susanne Buixasa was arrested for arson. She was booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee, Sheriff’s Office Detective Dan Wilson stated in the department’s news release.

The Sheriff’s Department did not release further information on the incident.
