Health officials issue warning to south bay beaches due to high bacteria levels

San Diego, CA–The San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality has issued a warning for Silver Strand Shoreline due to elevated bacteria levels in the ocean.
According to health officials, bacteria levels have exceeded state health standards and may cause illness to the public.
Health officials are urging beachgoers to exercise caution, emphasizing that the bacteria levels have surpassed state health standards, posing a potential risk of illness.
An advisory was also issued for Coronado North Beach, La Jolla Cove, San Diego River Outlet – Ocean Beach, Whispering Sands Beach at Ravina Street, Avenida de la Playa, Tourmaline Surf Park, Mission Point Park, and La Jolla Children’s Pool.
The Tijuana Slough and Imperial Beach Shoreline from the International Border through Carnation Avenue will remain closed until sampling confirms these areas are safe for water contact.
