Bicyclist fatally struck by driver suspected of DUI

Oceanside, CA–A male bicyclist was struck and killed Tuesday by a motorist suspected of DUI, the Oceanside Police Department tweeted.
The incident occurred just before 5 p.m. on southbound Douglas Drive near the mobile home parks.
The victim, believed to be in his 50s, died from his injuries at the scene. The suspected DUI motorist was detained and arrested, police tweeted.
Oceanside police shut down the southbound lanes of Douglas Drive from El Camino Real to Mission Avenue while they investigated the incident.
During a preliminary investigation, the bicyclist who was traveling on Douglas Drive near the sidewalk was struck by a motorist..
The name of the victim has not been released by authorities.
