Man arrested accused of attempted sexual assault of woman

San Diego, CA–San Diego police arrested a man accused of attempted sexual assault of a woman in her home last March, authorities said.

The San Diego Police Department Sex Crimes Unit received various tips from the community that led to the identity of the suspect, 28-year-old Darius Dewayne Hargrove.

Hargrove was charged with attempted sexual assault and burglary charges. He was already in custody at the San Diego County Jail for unrelated charges.

On March 25, an unidentified man entered the victim’s home around 3 a.m. in the 2800 block of Boston Avenue while she was asleep. He attempted to sexually assault her but the victim was able to get away and called police. The suspect ran away before the officers arrived at the home, the San Diego Police Department said in a news release.
