Five people arrested on suspicion of DUI at checkpoint

Poway, CA–Five people were arrested Friday evening on suspicion of DUI at a checkpoint conducted by the Sheriff’s Department, authorities said.
The Driving Under the Influence/Driver’s License checkpoint operated from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. in the 12100 block of Poway Road, Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Sean Gallagher said in a news release.
The Sheriff’s Department Saturday released data on the checkpoint:
- Total cars through the checkpoint were 1,939
- Total cars into the checkpoint: 507
- Cars sent to secondary for evaluation: 29
- DUI evaluations: 6
- DUI alcohol arrests: 5
Two drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended or revoked license. Also, two vehicles were also towed.
Funding for the DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
