On Friday, the El Cajon Police Department received a call from an alarm company just after 9 p.m. that an armed robbery had just occurred at the Speedway Gas, located at 700 Avocado Avenue in El Cajon. Dispatchers obtained a description of the fleeing suspect for responding officers.

The employees were not injured during the robbery, and an undetermined amount of cash was taken from the register.

A short time later, an El Cajon detective was alerted by the Flock Safety ALPR cameras that the suspect vehicle left the area towards Spring Valley. Detectives located the suspect vehicle in Spring Valley. With the help of the San Diego Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter, detectives initiated a high-risk traffic stop and safely took the suspect into custody. Evidence from the robbery was recovered in the vehicle.
