Vista, CA–A 49-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after pointing a replica firearm at another person in Vista, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
The incident occurred at an apartment complex in the 800 block of Soft Wind Road, authorities said.
When deputies arrived at the complex, they located the suspect, later identified as Antonio Grandy, in his apartment yelling and throwing objects out of the front door. Grandy displayed a handgun when he saw deputies and exited his apartment with unknown items in his hands, San Diego Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Andrew Brumfield said in a news release.
As deputies were giving Grandy commands, he made a movement toward his pocket. They gave him additional commands and he complied. He was taken into custody without incident.
Deputies found what appeared to be a handgun on Grandy, but later determined it was a CO2 air pellet gun. Additional weapons were located in Grandy’s residence that appeared to be authentic; however, they were later confirmed to be operational through CO2.
Grandy was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
