Man arrested for shooting at tow truck

Oceanside, CA–A Carlsbad man was arrested on suspicion of shooting at a tow truck on a road on Wednesday in Oceanside, authorities said.
Oceanside police received a call of a shooting at an occupied vehicle around 12:50 a.m. near Mesa Drive and Pear Tree Lane.
The 31-year-old man was driving a tow truck when a bullet struck his vehicle. The driver of a silver SUV reportedly shot at the truck, hitting it once before fleeing westbound down El Camino Real. The driver pulled to the side of the road and contacted police, the Oceanside Police Department said in a news release.
When officers arrived at the scene, they were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle plate which was registered in Carlsbad.
Carlsbad police located the vehicle a short time later parked in front of a residence. A man exited the home and locked the car, believed to be involved in the shooting incident, and went back into the home. When he exited again, he was detained by police. Oceanside police arrested 61-year-old Curtis Lynn Cains for suspicion of assault with a firearm.
The incident is under investigation.
