Man arrested on suspicion of murder in the east county

El Cajon, CA–A man was arrested by the Sheriff’s Department Fugitive Task Force Thursday on suspicion of murder in the east county, authorities said.
The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Kenneth McNally, is accused of killing 59-year-old Samuel Holthaus. The motivation and circumstances of the incident are still under investigation, Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Anthony O’Boyle stated in the department’s news release
On September 3, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a suspicious death that occurred in the 1200 block of Harbison Canyon Road at around 3:30 p.m. in unincorporated El Cajon.
A deceased man was found at the location with apparent trauma to the upper body. The victim in this incident has been identified as 59-year-old Samuel Holthaus. The victim’s family has been notified of his death.
Investigators from the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit investigators responded to the scene. During the investigation, the manner of death was determined to be homicide by the Medical Examiner’s Office.
