Boulevard, CA–A woman was arrested Friday morning on suspicion of shooting her daughter following an argument at their residence in Boulevard, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Deputies from the Sheriff’s Rural Command responded to a call just before 10 a.m. about a 22-year-old woman who had arrived at a fire station located in the 36000 block of Church Road with a gunshot wound, Sheriff’s Department Lieutenant Jeff Ford stated in the department’s news release.
As deputies began to investigate the incident, they learned the victim and her mother, Andrea Najera, 42 had gotten into an argument at their home located near the fire station.
During the argument, Najera retrieved a shotgun. The victim attempted to take it from her. As they struggled over the weapon, the gun went off and the victim was struck in the abdomen. The injured woman was flown by air ambulance to a hospital. She is expected to survive.
Deputies went to the home where Najera surrendered without incident. She was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and booked at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility.
