San Diego, CA–The University of Oregon from the Pac-12 Conference and the University of North Carolina from the ACC is scheduled to play Wednesday in the 43rd annual San Diego County Credit Union Holiday Bowl in San Diego.

The game kicks off at 5 p.m. in the first football game ever played at Petco Park. This is also the inaugural year of the SDCCU Holiday Bowl and 101.5 KGB Sky Show partnership. The radio station’s iconic San Diego fireworks show starts once the Holiday Bowl ends.

This year marks the second time an ACC team has ever played in the Holiday Bowl. The game will match teams from the ACC and Pac-12 through at least 2025. The Pac-12 has been represented in every Holiday Bowl since 1998. The last time a current ACC school played in San Diego was in 1992 when the Miami Hurricanes (then in the Big East) defeated San Diego State 63-17.

“We could not have asked for a more exciting matchup for the SDCCU Holiday Bowl at Petco Park,” said Mark Neville, CEO of the Holiday Bowl. “Fans can expect plenty of fireworks on and off the field December 28 and an experience that is second to none. With the play on the field and the 101.5 KGB Sky Show after the game it will be quite a night for San Diego sports fans.”

“We can’t wait to welcome teams, bands, cheer squads, and fans from Oregon and North Carolina to San Diego later this month,” said Cherry Park, 2022 president of the Holiday Bowl last month. “Our volunteers, partners, and staff have been working tirelessly to prepare for an incredible game and bowl week experience for all. Buckle your seatbelts, everyone… it’s going to be a great night to finally have a bowl game back in San Diego.”

This will be the 4th Holiday Bowl game for Oregon. Their last appearance was in 2008 when they defeated Oklahoma State 42-31.

Oregon is 15-20 all-time, according to their stats. They also have 13 PAC-12 conference championships. The team has won 691 games All Time.

This is North Carolina’s 31st Holiday Bowl game appearance. The team has produced 15 consensus All-Americans. They also won 721 games All Time.
