Pedestrian fatally struck by Sprinter train

Escondido, CA–A pedestrian was fatally struck by a Sprinter train Wednesday afternoon in Escondido, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
The incident occurred around 5:42 p.m. near the intersection of Mission Road and Enterprise Street, Sheriff’s Department Sergeant J. King said in a news release.
The Sheriff’s Department Transit Enforcement Unit was called to investigate a collision involving the train and a pedestrian.
When Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the location, they found a deceased individual involved in the collision.
Deputies are investigating the incident and the manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
