Pedestrian struck and killed by train in Old Town

San Diego, CA–A pedestrian was struck and killed Tuesday afternoon by a Coaster train at a transit station in Old Town, authorities said.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a report around 2:48 p.m. of a pedestrian who was struck by a southbound Coaster train at the Old Town Transit Station.

When deputies arrived at the station, the victim, a 30 to 40-year-old male, was deceased at the scene, the Sheriff’s Department said.

Deputies are investigating the incident and the manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
