Sheriff’s Dept. investigates fatal shooting in the South Bay

Bonita, CA–The Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shooting death of a man early Sunday morning in the South Bay, authorities said.
The incident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. in the 2900 block of Equitation Lane in the unincorporated area of Bonita.
The male victim was transported to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The victim’s identification is being withheld at this time, pending notification of family members.
Shortly after the incident, a similar vehicle was involved in another shooting in San Diego. A pursuit was initiated, and the suspect was detained for further investigation.
Sheriff’s Department investigators are working with San Diego police to gather additional information to determine if the incidents are related.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the nature of the relationship between the victim and the potential suspect is unclear. The motivation and circumstances of the shooting are under investigation.
