Three Sailors reported missing in Mexico, U.S. Coast Guard says

San Diego, CA–A search is underway for three American sailors last heard from on April 4 near Mazatlán, Mexico, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The Mexican Navy is assisting the U.S. Coast Guard in the search efforts off the coast of Mexico.

The sailors, William Gross, Frank O’Brien, and Kerry O’Brien were aboard the sailing vessel Ocean Bound, a 44-foot La Fitte, that reportedly left Mazatlán en route to San Diego. The sailors planned to stop in Cabo San Lucas on April 6 to report in and reprovision before continuing on to San Diego. However, they never reported in and never arrived in Cabo San Lucas, the U.S. Coast Guard stated in a news release.
