Transient arrested for slashing landscaper’s car tires

El Cajon, CA–A transient was arrested Thursday on suspicion of vandalizing a landscaper’s vehicle tires while he was cleaning a customer’s property, El Cajon Police Department said.

Officers responded to reports of vandalism in the 400 block of East Main Street in El Cajon. 

The suspect was sleeping next to the business and was awakened by the cleaning activity. The suspect produced a knife and slashed the victim’s tires before leaving the area, El Cajon Police Department Lt. Nick Sprecco stated in a news release.     

Officers were directed to the suspect and he was arrested. He was in possession of the knife and admitted to the vandalism. 

The suspect, identified as 67-year-old Richard Sumrall, was booked into San Diego County Jail on charges of felony vandalism.
