Oceanside, CA–A vehicle pursuit through North County Saturday ended in a collision with an ambulance, injuring the driver, and two paramedics, authorities said.

Oceanside and Vista Fire Departments responded at around 8:13 p.m. to reports of a traffic collision at the intersection of College Blvd. and Vista Way in Oceanside.

Fire crews arrived on the scene to a mid-size SUV that had collided with a North County Fire Protection District ambulance. Both vehicles sustained major front-end damage.

The SUV was being pursued by Sheriff’s deputies when it entered the intersection, hitting the ambulance, fire officials said in a news release.

The three victims were taken to the local trauma center. The driver of the SUV was transported to a local hospital.

Oceanside police issued a traffic alert for southbound College Blvd. at Waring Road to Vista Way, and westbound Vista Way for about three hours.

Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the incident.
