Banning, CA–A former Riverside County Sheriff’s Office correctional deputy has been charged with two felonies, including possession of narcotics for sale, transportation with the intent to distribute narcotics, and the enhancement of possession of a firearm while in the commission of those felonies.
The charges against Jorge Oceguera-Rocha were filed this morning by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office. He is scheduled to be arraigned today at 1:30 p.m. at the Banning Justice Center.
Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office, and Special Investigations Bureau (SIB), originally arrested Oceguera-Rocha on Sept. 17 during a traffic stop in Calimesa. He was re-arrested by SIB, and re-booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center in Banning on Sept. 20 for consideration of charges by the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.
According to RSO, Oceguera-Rocha resigned from his position with that office in lieu of termination.
If convicted of all charges, Oceguera-Rocha is eligible to spend a maximum of ten years in local custody.
