Authorities arrest suspect connected with East County murder

Potrero, CA–Sheriff’s deputies detained and arrested a man suspected in the December 29 homicide of an East County man, authorities said.

The suspect, 38-year-old Richard Arnold, was taken into custody Friday and was booked into the San Diego Central Jail.

The victim has been identified as 35-year-old Kevin Stewart. The two men were acquaintances that lived in separate motorhomes on the same property, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release. 

Deputies responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon around 8 a.m. near the 1000 block of Harris Ranch Road in Potrero. Deputies arrived on the scene and found a 35-year-old man on the ground with a gunshot wound to his torso.
