Female inmate dies at women’s detention facility

San Diego, CA–A female inmate in custody at Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility died early Monday morning in her cell, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said.
Sheriff’s homicide investigators were notified of the death of 32-year-old Roselee Bartolacci around 12:30 a.m. at the women’s facility in Santee.
Bartolacci was arrested on April 6 by Sheriff’s deputies and was booked into the Vista Detention Facility. She was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. On April 7, she was transferred to the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility in Santee, the Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release.
On May 28, during a check of the housing unit, Bartolacci, who was the sole occupant of her cell, was found to be unresponsive. Deputies and the facility’s medical staff immediately began life-saving measures including CPR on her until paramedics arrived at the scene. Despite their efforts, Bartolacci was pronounced dead.
The Citizen’s Law Enforcement Review Board representative was notified of the incident and responded to the facility.
As is the protocol for all in-custody deaths, the Sheriff’s homicide unit responded and will conduct a thorough investigation of the incident.
The cause and manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
