San Marcos, CA–The Sheriff’s Department and San Diego County Crime Stoppers are asking for the public’s assistance in finding the driver of a pickup truck suspected in a hit-and-run collision with a motorcycle on June 15 in San Marcos, authorities said.

Deputies responded to a call of a hit-and-run collision involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck just before 5:30 a.m. at the intersection of Grand Avenue and West San Marcos Boulevard.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found the victim lying in the roadway after being thrown from his motorcycle.

Sheriff’s investigators say the motorcyclist was traveling westbound on West San Marcos Boulevard when a pickup truck ran the red signal arrow and turned in front of the motorcycle. The driver of the truck fled the scene with no attempt to render aid to the motorcyclist. He was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured the pickup truck driving away from the scene.

Detectives are looking for a 1995-2000 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck with an extended cab. It will have damage to the passenger side door as a result of the collision.

Anyone with information about the incident can call the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station’s Traffic Division at (760) 510-5047.
