Suspect arrested on suspicion of murder in Vista

Vista, CA–A suspect was arrested Wednesday afternoon in connection with the shooting death of a man in Vista, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Deputies received a call of an assault with a deadly weapon around 11:25 a.m. in the 100 block of Camino Corto.
When deputies arrived on the scene they located a 37-year-old male, identified as Juan Valdovinos, suffering from gunshot wounds to his upper torso.
Deputies and medical personnel provided aid to Valdovinos on the scene. He was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries.
Witnesses informed deputies the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Jose Gonzalez, was in the area on foot. Deputies located and detained Gonzalez, who was found to be in possession of a firearm. There were no other outstanding suspects. Gonzalez was arrested for one count of murder, the Sheriff’s Department said.
According to investigators, witnesses heard an argument between Gonzalez and Valdovinos outside of their residences. Both men live on the same block of Camino Corto. At this stage of the investigation, the nature of the relationship between Valdovinos and Gonzalez is unclear. The motivation and circumstances of the shooting are still under investigation.
