Pedestrian struck and killed in traffic collision

El Cajon, CA–A male pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday by a vehicle in the East County, authorities said.
Officers and El Cajon Fire Department medical personnel responded to reports of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle around 10:34 p.m. at 700 E. Washington Avenue in El Cajon.
According to the El Cajon police, the pedestrian had died at the scene and was not transported by medical personnel. The identity of the 34-year-old man is known, however his name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
The driver of the 2015 silver Toyota Camry that struck the pedestrian remained on scene and has been fully cooperative with the investigation. Police say alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor in the collision.
